Why CODA-Nigeria
We want to create a thriving local, regional and national networks of CODAs in Nigeria, who can provide support and guidance for CODAs in Nigeria of all ages. We are also committed to honouring our heritage and our Deaf culture. As natives within Deaf culture, we have a crucial part to play through our partnership with the Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD) in ensuring our culture and our indigenous sign languages of Nigerian Sign Language are properly recognized, documented, kept alive and thriving. We also want to bring together young CODAs with Nigeria and of Nigeria Descendant and their families, and to see a resurgence of Deaf community environments.
